What to Expect
Your Child's First Visit
In addition to receiving the best care possible, we want your child to feel comfortable, safe, and understood at each of our locations. Here's a general walkthrough of an appointment with us.
- Our offices are comfortable and clean, with a focus on children. You'll be welcomed when you enter and asked to complete paperwork, schedule your next cleaning, and take care of any balances due, so your wait is as short as possible once the appointment is over.
- We'll call your child by name, and one of our assistants or hygienists will take them back. You're welcome to accompany your child, but you don't have to.
Cleaning
- An assistant or hygienist will clean and polish your child's teeth and prepare them for treatment if necessary.
- We explain things in age-appropriate language as we go, so there are no surprises for parents or children.
- Our whole team uses gentle techniques to keep your child as comfortable as possible.
Exam
- Dr. Jackson performs every exam and treatment with the help of an assistant, using his years of experience with kids.
- We're thorough but quick — it isn't easy to hold still with your mouth open for long, especially when you're a kid. It may only take a minute for Dr. Jackson to assess every tooth and check for signs of trouble. Never hesitate to ask if you have a specific concern.
After the Exam
- Dr. Jackson takes time to explain everything and answer every question, so you're confident in your child's care.
- An assistant will lead you back to the front office to check out. Treatment plans and payments are handled at this time. Don't hesitate to ask questions during any part of your visit — we're here for you.

Kid-Friendly Terminology
We use relatable words that help kids understand what's happening, and avoid language that can trigger fear or anxiety. Knowing the terms ahead of time helps parents, too.

We met with him at his Rexburg location and I honestly have never seen a better pediatric dentist. My child has autism and it's not always easy finding someone who can cater to all needs of children. He was amazing. I told him my child's needs and he reassured me that all children are welcome and that he has lots of experience with kids on the spectrum. The office is super nice and obviously very family friendly.

Dr. Jackson and his group are so good at what they do. They make my two kids so comfortable. My oldest has a sensitive gag reflex and Dr. Jackson is very understanding of him and conveys that to his staff as well. He followed up with us to ensure our child was okay after the appointment. He also is great at explaining any work we might need or anything forthcoming in the future.
